Frypaan is Oman’s first food ordering chain that is purely home-grown and caters, currently, to customers in the Muscat region. In the following interview, Frypaan representative talks about home delivery service and the myriad options for foodies in the capital.
Why was a need felt to start a food delivery service?
We realised that there was a need for a brand that is by the locals and for the locals. Food is a daily need, and the love of food is universal. However, when it comes to eating out, we wanted to improve the user’s experience of ordering their favourite food.
We don’t just ensure that you can order your food online and receive it at your doorstep, we also offer other ways in which the entire ‘eating out’ experience can be enhanced. We offer four tools to order your food online, as described on our website. The options include:
- Dine- In
- Pre-Order
- Take-away
- Delivery
All in all, whether you want to skip the waiting line to dine-in at your favourite restaurant or choose to take away your order on your drive home, or simply order your meal and have it brought over it you, Frypaan has got it covered.
What about eating out – is there a growth in the eating out habits of people?
More and more people are increasingly choosing to eat out lately; the reasons for this paradigm shift may be numerous – from people being more occupied professionally and having lesser time to opt for a home-cooked meal, or to just enjoying different cuisines as part of experiencing a new culture. Eating out isn’t just a matter of convenience anymore, though that still remains an interesting reason why restaurants in the capital have been burgeoning.
One can also see an increase in themed-restaurants specialising in particular cuisines take precedence over the humble shawarma or biryani; for the general eater these days, those the classics will always be in demand. From restaurant chains in malls, to cafes by the beach – continental foods and cuisines have seen a surge in both sales and in being ‘social-media’ friendly.
Is there a growing community of people who rely on takeaways and home deliveries to save time and effort?
A lot of our data to understand our customer-base comes from social media. It’s interesting to note that the people who eat out most are usually in the age ranges of 18-38 and choose to buy foods that look better on their Instagram or Snapchat page.
Would you say food connoisseurs in the capital have the best of international food?
It would be safe to say that the love of food has transcended beyond the flavours and textures; visual appeal and social media ‘likes’ also play a factor in the ‘It crowd’ in the capital city of Muscat.
Being in the food business, we are inherently happy about this trend, and are glad to see Oman slowly progress to welcome more flavours, trends and tastes.
