Check out some of the costliest New Year’s Eve parties held around the world.
Russian Extravaganza
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is known for throwing extravagant New Year’s Eve parties, and in 2010 he went all the way to make it one of the most memorable ones – at the cost of $7.6 million! The party had guests staying at his 536-foot super-yacht ‘Eclipse’ and the 377-foot yacht ‘Luna’ and indulging in caviar and sushi. The party featured Red Hot Chili Peppers and had a guest list of international celebrities.
Twice in a Night
Imagine saying Happy New Year in Sydney and then zipping all the way to Los Angeles to ring in the New Year again. That’s what was on offer when a company called Private Fly upped the party mood with a tempting NYE – twice in one night – offer for a whopping $210,000. The party ushered in the New Year at the Sydney Opera House before boarding a private jet to fly to Los Angeles to say Happy New Year – again.
It’s a Cameo
For$100,000, guests opting for the 2013 Cameo Nightclub NYE in Miami were treated, along with four other friends, to an exclusive package that featured a night at a recording studio with Lil Wayne and a hamper of fine beverages. The pulsating night featured music, dance, feast and a large dose of fun.
NYE at Gansevoort Turks & Caicos
Another$100,000 deal of an NYE party, floated by Gansevoort Turks & Caicos (Wymara Resort and Villas) in 2011, was an out and out rich affair. The ticket, priced for two, was designed to take pampering to new heights with private jet service, an oceanfront penthouse suite, a personal chef, conch-shell diving opportunities, spa treatments, exclusive pool service and even cashmere blankets, among a host of others.
A Plastic Deal
In 2009, when Dr. Stephen Greenberg organised a ‘Plastic Surgery Event’, guests were required to shell out $100,000, for what was touted as one of the most expensive NYE packages. The price included three tables for concerts of Lady Gaga, John Legend and Brody Jenner, in addition to first-class round trip tickets from New York to Miami. There was more – a choice of penthouses at five-star hotels in South Beach for a month and a chance to go under the knife for some plastic surgery deal.
A Margaritaville NYE
It was, indeed, another day in paradise at singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville’ Beach Resort when a happening New Year’s Eve party was organised for $45,000 for two nights. Guests had the option of staying in the presidential suite or the Coral Reefer vice-presidential suite and charter a yacht.
VIP Affair
To welcome 2017 in style, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach played host to a five-day shindig. Priced at $500,000, guests got a 9,850 square-foot multi-floor Sorrento Penthouse (accommodating up to 10 guests), which has five bedrooms, six luxurious baths, a private pool, Jacuzzi, a striking dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The package also included a private poolside cabana and the opportunity to enjoy private dinners at fine dining restaurants within the property. Guests had access to luxury cars, private yacht transfers, shopping sprees, and, best of all, a table for Justin Beiber’s New Year’s Eve performance.
Neighbouring Dubai
Dubai is known for doing things extravagantly, and the December 31, 2016 event was no different. There were seven tables on offer to sit back and watch fireworks at the iconic Burj Khalifa. The spectacular display of pyrotechnics has proven to be a big draw for NYE party-makers around the world. On a general note, a study found that the average cost of ringing in the New Year in Dubai would cost a minimum of AED 2,240 per person.
