Oceanie, La Mer

Oceanie, La Mer, a woven linen scarf bearing artist Henri Matisse’s design, was auctioned at Christie’s auction house in London, earlier this decade, for a whopping £3 million. The scarf, inspired by the French artist’s 1940 trip to Tahiti, is part of a unique 30 piece collection that Matisse designed in 1946 for the luxury accessories label Ascher.  The Oceanie, La Mer piece is larger than a traditional scarf, measuring 165cm 380cm and was designed to be framed and mounted as a wall panel.

Bawal Exclusive’s custom-tailored headscarf fetched a cool $8,000 when a Malaysian businesswoman purchased it last year. The hijab, studded with Swarovski crystals, has a bling factor that makes it ideal for any formal occasion. The hijab was produced by Bawal Exclusive’s As Galleria (AG) in Lembah Sireh.
