Old Misfat Heritage Project Completed

As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Blessed Renaissance of Oman, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Bank Muscat celebrated the completion of the Misfat Al Abriyeen heritage tourism project.  The landmark tourism development project in Misfat Al Abriyeen, in the Wilayat of Al Hamra, was initiated by the Bank in 2019. It included the restoration of the main gate of Misfat Al Abriyeen by preserving its original features. The restoration of several old mud houses was also done so as to set up a restaurant to serve authentic Omani cuisine to visitors. Vehicle parking facilities, a tourist information centre and office, a souvenir shop, and signage leading to the tourist spot were also developed as part of the project. It will be operated by the Al Misfat Al Ahlia Company, a local SME in the region.

Oman Reopens Tourist Visa Applications to International Travellers

As Oman reopens its borders to international travellers, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is welcoming guests back to its glorious haven in the clouds. Tourists from the Middle East and beyond can now plan a trip to Oman’s leading resort and apply for a tourist visa to enter the country, provided they have a hotel booking or sponsorship from a local travel agency. Travellers are also required to present two negative COVID-19 PCR tests to be enabled entry in Oman, one no more than 90 hours prior to departure and another conducted at the airport on arrival. For trips less than 7 days, visitors will also be able to bypass the quarantine requirement and freely explore their destination.

SOHAR Port and Freezone Launches SOHAR Works Programme

SOHAR Port and Freezone, in collaboration with its tenants, kicked-off the SOHAR Works Graduate Development Programme through Zoom on November 29. Launched under the patronage of Dr Mahad Said Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, the programme stems from the commitment of SOHAR to support the development of a strong Omani workforce, provide relevant training and increase the generation of job opportunities. This initiative is organised together with the Ministry of Labour and will be managed by Oman Sail (Zimam).
