Oman Air recently launched a new codeshare agreement with Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, which sees the airlines’ combined frequencies between Bahrain and Muscat at 6 daily flights. This new codeshare provides customers enhanced flight connectivity possibilities with Oman Air to various destinations across both carries networks. Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer, of Oman Air commented: “Through this code share, Oman Air offers its guests a combined frequency of six daily flights. The new Muscat International Airport is also due to open soon, which will give our Bahrain-based guests an exciting opportunity to connect to our global network through a world class facility.” Oman Air currently serves up to 55 destinations worldwide.
Meethaq ‘Back to school with Baraem’
Meethaq, the pioneer of Islamic banking in Oman from Bank Muscat, hosted an event at Muscat Grand Mall to promote financial literacy and savings habit among children. Targeted at children below 12 years of age, Meethaq Baraem Account is the first Shari’a based children’s savings account in Oman. The account can be opened by parents/guardians on behalf of children.
Baraem helps parents to save on behalf of children and at the same time inculcate the savings habit among children. On opening the account, a special welcome kit comprising Baraem Recognition Card entitles cardholders to discounts at various outlets, including book shops, restaurants and children’s clothing stores. Activity books and educational aids which spark creativity are also gifted to account holders.
SalamAir celebrates six months of operational milestones
SalamAir has achieved remarkable results during its first six months of operation. Backed by a growing fleet of A320s, the airline has been able to expand its operations to include nine destinations and has opened the skies for more than 223,765 guests flying over 2,128,272 kilometers across the region to experience its value-added service offering. The airline has created 180 direct jobs, achieving 56 percent Omanisation rate; it is committed to reach the regulatory 60 percent Omanisation rate at the earliest possible and is currently preparing to enroll a new batch of cabin crew into its training program as it looks forward to the next stage of its network growth. The 24/7 SalamAir Call Centre is 100 percent run by Omanis.
Shell supports Road Safety Awareness Campaign
As part of their ongoing efforts to promote road safety in the Sultanate, Shell Oman, Petroleum Development Oman and Oman OLNG have launched a collaborative road safety awareness raising campaign in Salalah, in coordination with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA). This joint effort comes with the aim of spreading the message of safe driving emphasizing on adhering to speed limits, not using mobile phones while driving, and wearing seatbelts at all times. The campaign is set to cover ROP’s Wadi Hurait checkpoint and three Shell Service Stations, namely: Rabat Service Station, Green Line Service Station, and Raysut Service Station.

Majid Al Futtaim to develop RO45 million City Centre Sohar
Majid Al Futtaim will grow its existing portfolio of pioneering malls in Oman with City Centre Sohar. The mall, located in the Northern Governorate’s historic capital Sohar, is due to open in late 2018. Conveniently located on Batinah Highway, the mall will add 40,000m2 of gross leasable area to the Sultanate’s booming retail sector. Sohar, a port city and major industrial hub, has seen substantial economic growth in recent years, which Majid Al Futtaim is keen to contribute to. The construction contract for City Centre Sohar has been awarded to the Oman-based company Al Turki Enterprise and the work will commence in November 2017. City Centre Sohar has set a target to achieve LEED Gold status – the coveted energy-efficient design certification – within three months of opening.
