SalamAir appoints new CEO

Awasr and SAP to Launch Cloud Services in Oman
Oman’s Internet service provider Awasr and global digital transformation enabler SAP have announced plans to launch cloud services to drive business and economic growth, and job creation. Awasr will provide Oman’s organisations with business solutions running on the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud. Using these cloud-based business solutions, Oman’s organisations can easily adopt real-time analytics that will lead to better and faster decision-making. Underlining the benefits of the cloud, the vast majority (84 percent) of companies that say they are ‘ambitious’ and invest in technology deliver real business benefits, according to a recent report by Circle Research. Supporting Omani entrepreneurs, SAP launched the SMB Clinic, with over 40 entrepreneurs exchanging knowledge on digital business topics.

Sabco Sports Launched
Sabco Group has announced the creation of a new company, Sabco Sports, which has been set up to lead the growing sports industry in Oman and to take advantage of the huge growth of sports in the region in the coming years. Sabco Sports will be Oman’s premier sports agency, focusing on sports marketing, sports events and sponsorship, as well as managing corporation’s interest in sports, players, clubs and associations. Sayyid Khalid al Busaidi, the Chairman of Sabco Group, was the Chairman of the Oman Football Association for 9 years and oversaw a revolution in the sport in Oman. Sabco Sports has partnered with a number of the organisations that Sayyid Khalid built relationships with in his time with the OFA, and has already agreed collaboration with some of Oman’s most forward thinking sports and personalities.
Oman Air Awarded ‘Best Airline in Europe, Middle East & Africa’
Oman Air is the ‘Best Airline in Europe, Middle East and Africa’ for the second time in a row. The airline’s won the award at the Seven Stars Luxury Lifestyle and Hospitality Awards 2017. The ceremony took place at an official ceremony at ‘The Ecali Club’ in Athens, Greece and was attended by Senior Management from the Global Travel Industry and Oman Air was represented by Rogier De Jager, their Regional Vice President Europe. For 2017, the nominees in the category were Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Saudia, Oman Air, South African Airways, Swiss Air and Turkish Airlines. Speaking on the occasion, Paul Gregorowitsch, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, said, “Winning this prestigious award for the second time in a row is a significant recognition of the outstanding product, service and Omani hospitality that Oman Air is offering its guests.
