Breakfasts in Muscat

A quick guide to the best breakfasts in town, from food enthusiast Adila Eilleen and her friends who spent long hours checking out the fare in the popular food destinations in the capital to come to a consensus about the ones that satiate hunger, meet the quality quotient and offer variety to suit different palates

Are you a breakfast person? Have you tucked into some of the amazing waffles, crepes, pancakes and pastries that some of the established restaurants and coffee shops in the capital dish out day in and day out?

Here is an interesting survey from a team of ladies who gave their meetings a breakfast flavour over the past several months, to check out the best that the restaurants have to offer and give their votes to the ones that fit their bill.

In the following article, Adila Eileen, a food enthusiast presents her team’s recommendations of top 10 breakfasts to try, based on service, quality and customer service through regular checkups and feedbacks.

Café Bateel

Bateel has a beautiful ambience, which plays an important role in the breakfast scene in Oman. This is a must-visit place if you enjoy a good marina view and scrumptious morning meal with prompt service – every time. Don’t miss their Belgian waffles, the Levant breakfast and some good scrambled eggs. This café serves true good quality baked goodies, which are definitely not to be missed.

Paul

Paul has been our favourite for their lunch and, equally, for their breakfast. We highly recommend their egg Benedict avocado on toast, which has become our regular breakfast item now. Apart from that, they also have some nice French crepes and a lovely trio of Fromage, a three-cheese sandwich. Try it with a non-shareable hot chocolate. Paul serves from 8 am to 12 pm at Muscat City Centre and Muscat Grand Mall.

Mani’s Café

Mani’s is a cosy yet vibrant restaurant, serving some well-crafted breakfasts. It is a promising restaurant that has kept true to its promise of quality, without compromising on the taste and comfort. Mani’s has had no complaints with its food and is the place for some healthy options too – apart from regular pancakes and English breakfast. Mani’s serves an all-day breakfast at Al Mouj and Jawharat Al Shatti.

Fanajeen

We are in love with their fisherman breakfast, which has the essence of the Gulf region and India, like the balaleet or the fried eggs and dal (lentil soup) with parathas which is also known as Fanajeen special. This beach facing restaurant in Azaibah has gained popularity for serving some really good wholesome food. Tea lovers will certainly love their Karak tea too. And well, you can’t go wrong in serving a good old fashioned breakfast, can you? They do some good crepes and waffles too and lovely Turkish coffee. Fanajeen near Azaibah beach serves an all-day breakfast.

Passion Café

Located in Al Khoud and Boushar, this local cafe/restaurant is for all those who are in the mood for some naughty breakfast. The café has some good burgers and pizzas, and they serve all-day breakfasts with a host of options for brunches. Our favourite? Their Croque Madam!

 Casper and Gambini

With many new restaurants coming up in Muscat, this vibrant place at the Oman Avenues Mall is making waves. They serve breakfast and brunches on weekends and we surely did pick them up for their service and tasty breakfast.

D’Arcy’s Kitchen

How could we miss D’Arcy’s? We all love D’Arcy’s for their breakfast. This season they have come up with something new too – a kids-friendly menu, which is of importance here as families prefer to breakfast out. It is one of those must-visit places if you are a resident of Oman. Many, like us, have some great memories associated with this restaurant. We love their well-maintained quality, which has remained constant. D’Arcy’s Kitchen at Jawharat Al Shatti serves an all-day breakfast.

Nando’s

Nando’s breakfast is also called a winter season breakfast, and we recommend this if you are a Nando’s lover like us. We love their fluffy pancakes and eggs Benedict fit – for kings – which comes with Nando’s chicken. Don’t miss it this season. Nando’s serves breakfasts every Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 11 pm.

The Crepe Café, located in Al Mouj and Jawharat Al Shatti is an ideal place if you fancy a good crepe, simple pancake with syrup and cream or even eggs – the madam croquet, which is a sure treat for anyone.
