The role of youth in shaping the Oman’s economy is clear. At present Oman has the largest generation of youth in history; and, worldwide, millennials make up almost 50% of the global workforce. Given this increasingly young labor force, Oman has a growing need to explore alternatives to traditional job-creation strategies, like being entrepreneurs.
Add to it the drastic advancements in Internet Technology, increased incentives for SMEs by the government, and the change in attitude and mindset of the youth has given rise to many young entrepreneurs in recent years.
Supporting this entrepreneurial progress of the youth in Oman remains a key step in creating successful entrepreneurial communities. Research has also shown that youth learning to start and run their own business further pursue career and educational aspirations that they had not been exposed to prior to learning about entrepreneurship.
In this issue of FACES, we aim to salute this new generation of young Entrepreneurs, who are seizing opportunities arising from digital diffusion, new technologies, and growing industries to shape our future. The new issue will be dedicated to the youth of Oman, highlighting their skill, knowledge, and go-getter attitude, together with the dynamism of youth entrepreneurship. It will also highlight the role these enterprising individuals, together with the businesses they setup, play as key boosters to our economic growth and future.
For this issue we have flooded the pages with youth and business-oriented subjects that will be relevant to both locals and expatriates. We also catch up with a few successful youth entrepreneurs, who talk about their journey together with some valuable advice for anyone looking to take a dive into the world of business ownership.
