The past year took a major toll on various activities, limiting quite a few, while outright shutting down others. Sporting activities are one such area that felt a hard-hitting blow as a result of the pandemic. However, sportspeople/ athletes never stopped working towards their goals. To get the full story of their experiences, this issue we meet up with two elite athletes – Marwa Al Wadhahi, an Omani National Team Weightlifter, and Mohammed AlHabsi, an Omani National Team Swimmer.
In this issue, we also catch up with Ehdaa Al Barwani to learn about her journey towards becoming Oman’s first woman PADI instructor. Not an athlete but close. She tells us about how she started, what she plans on doing in the future, and also shares convincing reasons for our readers to try out scuba diving themselves.
Keeping in line with peaceful waters, ‘Save Oman Beaches’ is an initiative started by one woman, Ammujam Raveendran, who feels a keen sense of responsibility towards Oman as her home. We caught up with her to talk about this initiative, why she wants to keep the beaches clean, and how each of us can participate as part of their team.
This issue also allowed us to gain an understanding of working with and for children with disabilities as we spoke to Her Highness Sayyida Hujaija Jaifer Al Said, the Chairwoman of the Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children.
