Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort won the global – Luxury New Hotel – category, and was the country winner in the ‘Luxury Mountain Resort’ category, at the World Luxury Travel Awards that took place in December 2017.
The awards recognise luxury hotels for their world-class facilities and excellence in customer service, making it a fantastic recognition for the Oman-based resort, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.

Aster Al Raffah Hospitals & Clinics opens its 8th branch
Aster Al Raffah Hospitals & Clinics officially launched their 8th branch in the Sultanate, with Aster Al Raffah Polyclinic in Ma’abela.
The inauguration of the new facility was officiated by H.H. AlSayyad Hujaija Jaifer Al Said, Chairman of Association for the Welfare of the handicapped children and Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, in the presence of officials and staff of Aster Al Raffah Hospitals & Clinics, Oman.
Aster Al Raffah Polyclinic in Ma’abela offers a comprehensive range of primary healthcare services. Conveniently located in Al Ma’abela, behind Nesto Supermarket, the new facility will function within regular working hours from 9 am to 9 pm.
Shell Development Oman awards ‘Solar into Schools’ contracts
Shell Development Oman (SDO) recently awarded a further two contracts to Hussam Technology Company LLC (HTC), an Omani small and medium enterprise (SME), for the design and construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation systems to be installed into two public schools in the Al Batinah North Governorate.
Contracts for the latest solar school sites were signed by Dr Firas Al Abdwani for HTC and by Chris Breeze, Shell’s Country Chairman for SDO. The recipient schools in which the new solar PV generators will shortly be installed are Kaab Bin Barsha School in Saham and Al Asma’a bint Al Harith School in Sohar.
The solar PV generation systems for both schools will be fitted with leading edge PV technology, which will see the first use of bifacial solar PV panels in Oman. Currently Shell has successfully completed three solar schools in Nizwa, Al-Buraimi and Salalah and even more solar schools are planned for 2018.
