While the Oscars red-carpet may have missed out on the BIG moments, the elegance was at an all-time high.
Lady Gaga brought an award-winning hip (a design nod to her Golden Globe-winning dress). Lucy Boynton was another stand out as her dress was the ULTIMATE shade of purple that would have you staring for a long time.
Angela Basset was also a stand out; only she can make a hideous bridesmaid dress look chic. Regina King was the night’s Cinderella, finally recognised after years of being viewed as ‘that one’ she wore a simple white dress but carried it off like a true queen. Michelle Yeoh and Constance Will reminded us of why Crazy Rich Asians needs a sequel, while Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Sza should have thought about their looks.
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honoured the best films of 2018 and took place on February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories. The ceremony was televised in the United States by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) and was produced by Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss, with Weiss also serving as director. This was the first telecast to have no host since the 61st ceremony held in 1989.
In related events, the Academy held its 10th Annual Governors Awards ceremony at the Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center on November 18, 2018. The Academy Scientific and Technical Awards were presented by host David Oyelowo on February 9, 2019, in a ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
