FODEL is the region’s first last-mile delivery service based on the popular international pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) model. Following its successful launch in 2018, the tech start-up has now expanded its network to over 2,000 merchants across KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, as part of its plans to set up a base across all GCC countries thereby providing a suitable pick-up and drop-off solution for its clients in the region. In doing so, FODEL provides comprehensive geographic coverage offering online shoppers enhanced convenience, control, flexibility, and choice over their e-commerce orders.
Oman Sail to host 2021 Asian Windsurfing Championships in Musandam
The Sultanate of Oman has been chosen to host the 2021 Asian Windsurfing Championships, marking a return to elite international competition for the Techno293, Techno293Plus and the foiling Formula Windsurfing class, which is included for the first time in Asian Windsurfing Championship history. Taking place in Khasab, Musandam, and anticipating fifty of the best windsurfers to compete over six days between 11-16 October 2021. These include past champions and promising young riders from 15 countries in Asia.
ESO and Neal’s Yard Remedies Conclude Frankincense Tree Planting Campaign
The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) and Neal’s Yard Remedies, have concluded a campaign to promote awareness and preservation of frankincense trees in Dhofar. Since the start in August 2019, 600 frankincense seedlings have been planted, 200 flyers were distributed, illustrating appropriate frankincense planting and irrigation instructions in English and Arabic, and communities across the governorate have been provided with information on sustainable harvesting techniques. The campaign was conducted in eight different areas across the governorate, including 12 schools, as well as among women’s associations, farmers and local community members.
Oman Tourism College and W Muscat Sign a Partnership Agreement
Oman Tourism College (OTC) recently signed a partnership agreement with W Muscat, to provide its students with various specialised training opportunities within its facilities. The agreement was signed by Dr Abdulkarim Al Mughairi, Dean of OTC and Gerald Chevasson, General Manager of W Muscat. The signing is in line with OTC’s continuous endeavours to strengthen its network of relations with entities operating in the tourism sector, in order to provide practical training for its students and ensure their readiness to join the job market upon graduation. OTC continues to place great emphasis on various training programmes to enhance the skills and knowledge of its students. This prepares them for their role in developing the tourism and hospitality sectors within the Sultanate and take advantage of the job opportunities it provides.
