Hiba Al Zadjali, a graduate in Business Management, toyed with the idea of entrepreneurship long before she completed her academic studies. Like every other individual, she was not keen on the idea of getting a job. She dreamt of starting her own business and creating a new brand name and trademark, which is how the designer clothing brand HA Collection was born.
Established in 2018, the HA Collection combined her passion and love for sewing to create a unique line of dresses and abayas. Hiba learned sewing from her mother and saw the potential of a brand in what she loved doing. “I started very simple and decided to establish this brand from zero,” she says.
The brand name was coined from the initials of her name Hiba Al Zadjali and most of her collection bears her unique signature handmade works too. Hiba sews every piece with love and passion for the customer and customises it for them. Her clothesline, partly sewed by herself, is distinguished by its high-quality fabric and neat stitching. The volume of demand for her collection has been good and she has been arranging to ship around the world. A lot of her customers are from Oman and recently, she has had plenty of orders from the Middle East nations, especially Saudi Arabia. Hiba sources most of her materials from Muscat and Barka.
She is excited that the feedback from her customers had been extremely good.
“It’s been three years, and what makes me happy is that most customers order more than once. With the launch of a new collection of abaya and dresses, the level of demand will be greater.”
As a start-up, Hiba had to overcome many obstacles on her entrepreneurship journey. After graduation, she struggled without a job and suffered financially. She shelved her idea to create a brand distinguished from others and turned to work on another project so that she can be financially stable to begin her new business. Hiba got wholehearted support from her family, her mother being her best supporter.
Her proudest moment was when she completed three years and she has new plans to launch two collections in September.
“My future plan is to add new products like Shoes and bags and it will be handmade. I want to move forward as a global brand with the HA logo.”
The current pandemic has had affected her business too as she stopped her work for four months as all the stores were closed. “I did some offers and discounts for customers to compensate for what was lost during that period, she says.
Hiba has decided to give more focus, time and effort to her work and increase the marketing efforts more. HA collection can be ordered online through Instagram and WhatsApp: +968 91242329.”
As a final word of inspiration to young entrepreneurs, Hiba repeats her favourite saying: “Girls, you can do it. Don’t wait for someone to build your world for you. Get up and do it!”
