Born in Al Batinah Governorate, Nofal Al Ghafri developed a love for magic and illusion as a young boy. Mesmerised by the shock-inspiring tricks performed during magic shows on television, he recognised a calling within himself for the art. Learning from the shows, Nofal picked up some tricks and began performing magic and mind reading in 2013 for small audiences.
Today, Nofal has a thriving career as a magician and illusionist, with opportunities flooding in to enchant audiences across the Middle East with his sleights of hand, experiments with danger and bewitching acts. His widespread success has also earned him the accolade of being ranked the 3rd Best Magician in the Middle East! Read on to know more about Nofal’s tryst with magic…
How did you learn the art of magic and illusion?
I started with my teacher Mohammed Al Kayyali who inspired me to love this
field and then I travelled to many countries specialised in the field of magic to perfect my craft.
Tell us about your journey so far.
I started doing shows in universities and colleges and then moved on to performing in other GCC countries and participated in many competitions. I am now participating in Arab Festivals and performing at events.
What do you love most about performing?
I make whatever the public feels is impossible possible, and need to go to the
extreme just to show them there is no ‘impossible’.
What are some of your favourite magic tricks?
There is not one specific trick. However, I enjoy doing tricks that can be described as impossible or dangerous.
What are some of the challenges you face as a professional magician?
The challenge every magician faces is that it is still a growing field. Even though once you see these shows you want to keep watching them, the publicity and promotion in this field is very weak. I hope we will get better support.
Congratulations on being ranked the 3rd Best Magician in the Middle East. What do such achievements mean to you?
Thank you for the wishes! I am happy that my efforts have been recognised and grateful for this achievement at such a young age. I promise there will be bigger achievements worldwide in the future.
Do you have any advice for aspiring magicians and illusionists?
My advice is to mingle with positive people and shut out all negativity. Search for strength points and keep in mind nothing is ‘impossible’, however much it may appear so. Although there might be no support, keep going and you will achieve your dreams!
