Men and Skincare Products

Do you shy away from using skincare products on the grounds that the entire cosmetic industry is, seemingly, geared towards women?

Yes…? Or, perhaps, you feel that you have been doing justice to your face by lathering it with some face wash to get a squeaky clean look?

The fact that most skincare and beauty products are geared towards women has, somehow, made men like you hesitate when shopping for skincare products – even those that are specifically designed for you. Many of you are still shy, rather wary of products that have beauty underscored on them.

But like women, men’s skin also requires daily care and occasional pampering to look fresh and radiant. That cleanser, moisturiser and toner is not the prerogative of women alone… Although most skincare products can easily cut through gender differences, your best bet is to go for a product that suits your skin type – dry, oily and normal or combination. The skincare product you choose should, accordingly, match the skin type. If you are still undecided, go for one that is natural and contains plant-derived ingredients; a quick consultation with the brand expert or the staff manning the skincare department could act as a guide.

The best way to initiate your skincare regimen is to begin by washing your face and patting it dry with a soft towel. Follow that with toner and a moisturiser that is right for your skin type. Choosing the right moisturiser, especially for men who have drier skin, is very important. Complete the procedure with a sunscreen lotion; alternately, you could rely on a moisturiser that contains an SPF.
