Most Uneventful August Ever?

Was this the most uneventful August ever, asks Ale Zadjali, as he picks out obvious flops from the world of covers and VMAs

Sure August is never a remarkable month, especially when it’s right before September (THE month of fashion); however, we get two important things in August: the September covers and the Video Music Awards. But, this August was…abysmal.

Let’s start with the most important September cover. We failed to get any that were game changing, thought provoking or exciting, but the worst cover belongs to Beyoncé. Her choice of photographer for the Vogue cover was a positively historical change for the magazine, but it failed on almost every level. The styling was spectacular while the photography (and Beyonce’s poses) was amateur and rather pedestrian for such an elite magazine.

Ale Al Zadjali is a 24 year-old award-winning fashion designer; he is the brain behind the ‘Esque By Ale’ line of clothing.

The VMA’s were another non event, it featured a huge lack of A-List stars, which was amusing but got us an announcement for the return of ‘The Hills’ and that’s exciting. However, the attendees in it failed to bring it to the red carpet and we got no real standouts, despite all the stunts that some attendees (like Rita Ora and Amber Rose) pulled. However, Cardi B, Maluma and Camila Cabello did look nice.

Fashion? Check.

Shows? Check.

Music?

The highly anticipated ‘Sweetener’ by Ariana Grande did just as bad as the month; despite the success and hype it ended up being a lackluster album compromised of fillers and was completely sabotaged by Pharrell’s dated and questionable production ‘Skills’. However, ‘Breathin’, ‘Everytime’ and the singles are still worth a listen.

*sighs* bring on September!
