Ale Al Zadjali is mesmerised by the new gowns that move, which he prefers to label as the IT trend! Movement in Fashion literally…
Fashion weeks’ are in full gear at the time I write this and while I haven’t had a chance to pay attention to the trends, the shows, or really anything usual, I did notice something, which I’m declaring as the IT trend. Movement!
Gowns that move! Issey Miyake went viral with the PFW (Paris Fashion Week) show when models walked down the runway and stopped as the clothes descended from the ceiling onto their bodies. Not only is it the best solution to get dressed on the go but the dresses moved as the models walked (err….danced).
Balenciaga had a similar moment at PFW, as models sashayed down the runway in…bloated gowns that moved with every step they took; sure they look like Hershey’s Kisses but it was mesmerising to see.
Innovation is admirable and plausible, but I can’t wait to see Issey’s innovation becoming practical for daily purposes.
Fashion’s latest innovation has been through multiple routes and off the runway, Rihanna’s Savage Fenty show obliterated the (now cancelled) Victoria Secret Fashion Show as the IT runway of the year. She brought a new meaning to the show, new importance and even got it on a streaming site!
