National Natural Honey Company LLC and Al Joudah Food Tech Laboratory Company LLC have signed an agreement to carry out an overall quality analysis of the honey used by the National Natural Honey Company in its products. Al Joudah Foodtech Laboratory is capable of carrying out chemical and microbiological testing of food products, beverages and water; it also follows advanced food testing requirements, Halal testing, pesticides analysis, nutritional testing, food additives testing, PAH/Toxins/antibiotics and GMO testing. The National Natural Honey Company is the first Omani company specialised in producing and marketing honey products with international specifications and standards. As part of the agreement, the lab will conduct a thorough analysis of the honey samples, including analysing pollen grains in honey, which will help to determine the origin plant of honey.
Industry leaders launch new apprenticeship program
Global resource management specialist, Veolia has joined forces with the Sembcorp Salalah Power and Water Company and Sohar Operation Services to launch an apprenticeship programme aimed at elevating the quality of talent entering Oman’s desalination sector. Targeting recent Omani mechanical and electrical engineering graduates from Sultan Qaboos University and Salalah Technology College, the nine-month programme will include both theoretical learning within a classroom environment and on-the-job training. Sponsored by Madayn and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the new apprentice programme, which is certified by the Ministry of Manpower in Oman, is based upon the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4, a UK-based work-based qualification that tests candidates on their knowledge and skills for technical and professional work-related activities.
OTC signs Cooperation Agreement with Oman Research Repository ‘Shuaa’
Oman Tourism College (OTC) signed a cooperation agreement with Oman Research Repository ‘Shuaa’, which is supervised by a joint committee from The Research Council (TRC) and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The agreement was signed by Dr Abdulkarim Sultan Al Mughairi, Dean of OTC, and Dr Nabhan bin Harith Al Harrasi, Chairman of the Omani Digital Research Repository Project Committee. According to the agreement, OTC will share its intellectual property including scientific and academic studies, research projects, various books, reports and audio-visual materials. This is aimed at making them permanently available to students, researchers and interested individuals from within and outside the Sultanate, through the Omani digital research project ‘Shuaa’. Commenting on the importance of the signing, Dr Abdulkarim Al Mughairi said, “This is an extremely significant step in the field of supporting scientific research efforts by providing previous studies and statistics at the national level.”
