Oman Sail recently celebrated 13 years of excellence since its inception and the winter season will see Oman Sail host three major world championships here in Oman. As part of the celebration, and in the presence of Deputy Swiss Ambassador to Oman, Sabina Läderach, Oman Sail marked the occasion by unveiling the team representing the Sultanate in the Star Sailors League, a leading inshore competition scheduled to take place in Switzerland from 19 September to 4 October. The twelve-man team will compete against professional teams from around the world for the Sir Roland Symonette Trophy in what will be the first strong competition for Oman’s elite sailors post-pandemic.
The winter season will see Oman Sail host three major world championships with the 2021 World Youth Sailing Championships, 2021 49er, 49er FX & Nacra 17 World Championships, and the 2021 ICLA Radial World Championships headed to these shores. Oman Sail will also organise the 2021 49er, 49er FX & Nacra 17 Asian Championships, 2021 Asian Windsurfing Championships, along with regular fixtures in the calendar like the Mussanah Race Week and Sailing Arabia – The Tour 2021 to close out the year as competitive sailing returns to the Sultanate.

Amouage expands to China
Amouage, the Oman-based global luxury fragrance House, has announced its debut on Tmall Global with a wide range of much-loved masterpieces including Epic, Dia, Honour, and Memoir and the recently released power-duo, Boundless and Material. As part of Amouage’s dynamic growth, the House is expanding its distribution throughout China, has signed a partnership with Hong Kong-based S’Young International Trading Company Limited.

Oman Air renews sponsorship deal with OFA
Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, signed a sponsorship agreement with the Oman Football Association (OFA) renewing its role as a key partner and official carrier for national football teams in the Sultanate. Oman Air CEO Abdulaziz Al Raisi and Oman Football Association Chairman Sheikh Salim Al Wahaibi signed the agreement in a ceremony held in the first-class cabin onboard one of Oman Air’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners at Muscat International Airport.
Oman Air CEO Abdulaziz Al Raisi welcomed the renewed partnership, highlighting the airline’s continued role as an official carrier. “We are delighted to renew our role as the official carrier and extend our support for national football teams across the country as they journey to success in regional and international competition.”
Dr Khalid Al Jahwari Joins Petrofac
Petrofac has appointed Dr Khalid Al Jahwari as Country Manager, Oman. Dr Al Jahwari brings over 20 years of industry experience in the oil and gas industry, with a varied background in technical, commercial and management roles, working across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Muscat’s Sultan Qaboos University, as well as an MBA and a PhD from the UK’s University of Strathclyde.
Dr Al Jahwari has significant leadership experience, most recently as Shell’s General Manager of Operations in Egypt, having previously been Shell’s Global Production Excellence Leader, based in The Hague, Netherlands. Prior to Shell, he spent 15 years with Petroleum Development Oman, holding a number of key roles.
