Pastels for Ramadan

Pastels are where it’s at this Ramadan season, observes Ale Al Zadjali, as he suggests interesting combinations to turn heads

Pastels for Ramadan

Ramadan shopping is at an all-time high. Apparently, nothing represents the month of giving back like spending money on things for your own pleasure (or, perhaps, to make people jealous – which also isn’t the point). However, since we are on it and Ramadan fairs are at an all-time high, especially by the time you read this, let’s talk about the colour palette for the season.

Ramadan falls in summer and while most people don’t go out till late at night, they may still feel it is appropriate to go for the dark colours – which is probably the worst decision to go with. Pastels are where it’s at; pastels are what you want to be wearing to turn heads. Especially when it comes to women…

We all know how much you love a good kaftan in the middle of Ramadan. So why not pair a lavender purple one with a couple of sequins, because simplicity is key and a couple of sequins are the ultimate build-up to the head-to-toe shine-fest that you will be on Eid, when the highlighter is accessible again.

As for men, even those who wouldn’t consider going for colours – try it! A little trim if you may; break a dark look with a light embellishment, be it in the tie, shirt or on the embroidery of the dishdasha.
