Pro-Ject – Affordable Audiophile X1 Turntable
Austrian hi-fi manufacturer Pro-Ject has added a new turntable to its X line that promises true audiophile sounds at an affordable price. The Pro-Ject X1 is a straight hi-fi turntable. It features an isolated motor that drives the belt which spins the turntable’s 1.5 kg resonance-free acrylic platter for 33.3, 45 and 78 rpm playback speeds. Wow and flutter (variation in pitch) is reported to be 0.15 percent at 33.3 rpm and 0.13 percent at 45. The turntable comes supplied with the company’s own Connect-IT E RCA semi-balanced, low-capacitance, shielded cables to ensure a quality connection to the living room hi-fi system.
Giga, The Campsite Device Charger
Created by British inventor Robert Kettlety, the Giga is basically a small wind turbine that’s enclosed within a protective UV-resistant thermoplastic body. Measuring 325 mm across (12.7 in) and weighing at about 1 kg, it can be wedged between rocks, propped up in trees, or staked to the ground. Once the Giga’s set up at the campsite, its blades spin in the wind throughout the day or night. Unlike a solar panel, it doesn’t require any sunlight, and, unlike a portable water turbine, it doesn’t need to be put in a stream or river. The amount of power that it produces will depend on how windy it is, although it’s claimed to kick out up to 5 watts. That power is delivered to devices via an USB charging cable.
Electric Vehicle Adoption For Better Air Quality And Climate Outlook
Electric vehicle (EV) adoption is a significant move in terms of environment, as a study found that it would improve overall air quality and lower carbon emissions. The study has quantified the differences in air pollution generated from battery-powered electric vehicles versus internal combustion engines and found that even when their electricity is generated from combustion sources, electric vehicles have a net positive impact on air quality and climate change. To quantify the differences between the two types of vehicles, researchers used an emission-remapping algorithm and air quality model simulations. They used these methods to closely examine two pollutants related to automobiles and power emissions: ozone and particulate matter.
