Rueda Team Oman, led by Allan Yasser Abdula, joined the International Rueda de Casino Multi Flash Mob to perform a complex sequence and entertain Muscat residents
For the uninitiated, La Rueda de Casino is a structured way of dancing Cuban Casino (mistakenly called ‘Salsa’) in which partners align in circles. The first International Rueda de Casino Multi Flash Mob took place in April 2014, where groups from 67 countries danced La Rueda de Casino simultaneously. This year Rueda Team Oman joined in the international event with a spectacular show at the Dolphin Village clubhouse. With a rehearsal only hours before the event, Team Oman successfully performed a complex sequence of 16 Casino pattern moves in a smooth, synchronised manner, to the rhythm of ‘Amiga Mia’ by Los Van Van (from Cuba). The 1950’s etiquette moments were recreated through a combination of smart dressing, holding arms walking and colourful Flamenco fans swinging.
About Muscat Salsa Rueda
Back in 2013, a group of expats who gather on weekends, introduced Rueda De Casino, a dance form taking much from Cuban salsa and danced inside a circle (hence the term ‘rueda’ which is wheel in English). In 2018, a dedicated group of people initiated the Friday rueda de casino meet ups and welcomed more expats who also share the same passion for the dance.
