Do Not Drink Soda after Workout
Drinking soda after exercise could damage kidneys, warn researchers, who found that the cold soft drink could increase dehydration and even interfere with kidney function when had after a hot workout. Generally speaking, when exercising in a hot environment, blood flow through the kidneys is reduced, which helps to regulate blood pressure and conserve water. This, however, is not constant, as a steep drop in blood flow through the kidneys could cause acute kidney injury, owing to the accompanying drop in oxygen supply to the tissues. Research has also indicated that consuming a high-fructose soft drink increases kidney injury risk in rats experiencing dehydration. The new study found that consumption of soft drinks during and following an exercise session in the heat does not lead to rehydration.
Sleep Well To Reduce Cardiovascular Risk
A good night’s sleep could lower cardiovascular risk. According to a recent study, there is a connection between how much sleep you get each night and the risk of cardiovascular problems. Many studies have emphasised the importance of sleep in maintaining general health and well-being and researchers are also finding how sleep quality affects specific aspects of a person’s health. Resent research indicates that there is a link between sleep quality and the risk of atherosclerosis, a condition that doctors characterise by plaque build-up in the arteries. The study notes the importance of sleep as a weapon in fighting heart disease.
