With over 40 years of experience in marketing, public relations, business development and communications, Philippe Georgiou has lived and worked on all continents. During the early years of his career, he worked within the Food & Beverage Industry, starting with Cadbury, Schweppes and then Coca-Cola, where he led communications units, developed issues and crisis programs and built their corporate social responsibility drives.
In 2010, having retired from Coca-Cola, Philippe Georgiou was offered the position of Chief Officer for Corporate Affairs at Oman Air in Muscat.
“The funny part of my title was that its acronym was COCA! And everyone in the company called me Coca!”
He then went on to work in the Ministry of Tourism in 2013, where he continued to offer his expertise until retiring in 2019. “This was my second retirement and I wanted to slow down, move away from a full-time job and grab the opportunity to take advantage of my other skills and knowledge,” he comments.
Remembering his chance discover of sound therapy, he says, “When I read about sound and its benefits, I got really excited and wanted to know more and dig deeper.” He travelled to India to take courses, eventually reaching the Master Teacher Sound Therapist level, a journey he describes as thrilling.
When asked to shed more light on sound therapy, he said, “Sound Healing refers to different healing techniques based on the unique properties of sound vibrations. The specific sound frequencies, when produced with knowledge and awareness, become a powerful tool for physical, emotional and mental healing.”
Philippe Georgiou has achieved the Master Level in Tibetan Singing Bowls Sound Healing Training. During a Tibetan Singing Bowls Sound Healing session, sounds produced by the bowls restore the normal vibratory frequencies of diseased parts of the body, emotions and mental state. Elaborating further, he says, “Singing Bowls are used to create what we call a sound bath – a general state of wellbeing; an aura cleansing wherein the person’s energy level is boosted and enhanced; as well as the balancing of body functions, emotional stability and mental positivity. Sessions can last between one and two hours.”
Philippe swears by the numerous benefits of sound therapy. Apart from being known to create a deep state of relaxation, it effectively triggers the body to generate endorphins to overcome pain, addiction, fatigue, stress and anxiety. “Sound resonance improves blood circulation, regulates heart beat and lowers blood pressure. It improves sleep quality and cures insomnia. Singing Bowls enhance memory, decision making and creativity. They improve focus and concentration and create a profound space for self-introspection and self-awareness,” he says.
The future is filled with promise for Philippe. He fills his time by holding sound therapy sessions, conducting nurturing meets for personal development and meditation practices, and coaches those who ask for assistance.
