The Art of Eating

The Art of Eating

Author: M.F.K. Fisher

In ‘The Art of Eating’, which is a collection of food-related essays, the author explores the fine art of cooking and eating, while examining the importance as well as the personal role food plays in people’s lives. Although the book is totally about food, it goes beyond the regular parameters of food to connect it to the very existence of human life.

How to Eat a Peach: Menus, Stories and Places

Author: Diana Henry

‘How to eat…’ is a menu notebook, started by the author when she was sixteen. It details her passion for planning a menu and presents 24 menus and 100 recipes that reflect places she loves, and dishes that are her favourites. She believes that menus can create different moods – even taking one places. The menus are introduced with personal essays about places or journeys or particular times with details of the choice of dishes. Although each menu is a story by itself, the recipes can be used separately.

Strudel, Noodles & Dumplings

Author: Anja Dunk

This is a cook book about Germany’s varied culinary heritage, seen through the eyes of Anja Dunk’s family recipes, which she recreates in her young family kitchen. Recipes, ranging from whole-wheat buttermilk waffles to courgette and green pepper salad with yoghurt dressing, highlight how home-cooked German food is gently spiced, smoky, buttery and deeply savoury, with a tinge of sweet and sour tastes.
