OTC Holds 4th Edition of ‘Women in Tourism’. In celebration of Omani Women’s Day, Oman Tourism College collaborated with Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN) to host the fourth edition of its ‘Women in Tourism’ initiative at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Held under the patronage of Dr. Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman Al Lawati, Vice Chairperson of the State Council, the annual event featured speakers who showcased the achievement of ladies working in tourism. Aimed at enriching local perspectives on industry employment, the college demonstrated the opportunities available for female professionals in the sector as one of the nation’s foremost development priorities. As a key economic sector, tourism in Oman in undergoing extensive investment with development plans that expect to see 21,000 jobs arise within 14 months, as promised by the government initiative Tanfeedh.
SalamAir increases flights from Dhaka
SalamAir announced the increase in the number of flights from Dhaka to Muscat from four times a week to six, to cope with the increasing market demand on budget travel from Bangladesh to the Middle East. The increase follows the airline’s recent successful service launch between Dhaka and Muscat, reaching an average load factor of 95 percent on flights. The increase in frequency will allow passengers from Bangladesh to conveniently connect to key destinations in the region, including Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Shiraz, and Salalah. Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir said, “Since launching the Dhaka-Muscat service last July, we are witnessing month-by-month growth in the market.”
