Omani Visual Inspirations

An iconic collection of art works from six pioneer Omani artists are on display at Bait Al Zubair museum’s ‘Omani Visual Inspirations’ exhibition.

The exhibition ‘Omani Visual Inspirations’, opened on March 13 under the auspices of H.E. Abdul Monem Al Hassani, Minister of Information, is a collection of artworks from Oman’s renowned artists, Anwar Sonia, Hussain Ubaid, Mohammed Al Sayegh, Mohammed Fadhel, Musa Omar and Idriss Al Houti.

This exhibition contains 40 paintings where the angles, the decorative units and the inspirations vary representing a kind of simulation of the past to the present. Their different experiences refer to different styles, creating different techniques inspiring Arabic writings, heritage elements and traditional concepts of Omani architecture in their artworks. These experiences became brilliant and famous in the Omani art environment, since there are bits of similar influences in their styles, mixed between modernism and old roots of Omani art. In Mohammed Al Sayegh and Mohammed Fadhel’s techniques, creativity is depicted with the use of Arabic calligraphy in modern artworks.

Visual

Shapes of traditional architecture and a figure of an Omani woman composed of expressionism effects like Idriss Al Houti’s works appear in Anwar Sonya artworks as well. In abstraction, Hussain Ubaid has created different techniques in his works, as each artwork is an introduction to the next one. It’s the point of intersection between the view and the vision.

The exhibition will run until the 30th of March in Bait Al Nahdah at Bait Al Zubair Foundation.
