But the true excitement only sparks when you decide to create the experience for yourself. We have for you the perfect snack combo for your personal bedroom cinema experience – Nachos and Slushy!
Whether you choose to make it alone or with your loved ones, this casual yet decadent combo doesn’t take much; all you need is our simple recipe, a few ingredients, and a heart ready to have fun.
For the Nachos
The best part about making nachos at home – there are no defined measurements; it is all based on your taste. You just need to know what you need, how much you need? That is totally your call!
Ingredients:
- Tortilla chips (Doritos)
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Toppings of your choice (Jalapeños, olives, shredded chicken, minced beef)
Method:
Start by preheating your oven to 180˚C. Line a baking dish or sheet with foil or a baking mat. Spread your tortilla chips on this sheet and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Bake this until the cheese has melted. Serve warm and enjoy!
Variations:
You already went through our standard nacho recipe but elevate the dish a little further by adding a layer of toppings such as cooked shredded chicken or ground beef, jalapeños, onions, followed by another layer of cheese. Top the final product with some sour cream and serve with a side of salsa or guacamole sauce, and you have a restaurant-quality nachos dish from your home kitchen!
The Nachos Cheese Sauce
For those who prefer their nachos cheese dip separately or do not have the time to whip up oven-baked nachos, all you need is a packet of Doritos and a few ingredients to make a simple cheese dip.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 to 2 cups of shredded cheddar
- ¼ tsp chilli powder
Method:
In a saucepan, mix the butter and flour over medium heat until foamy. Continue whisking for a minute to cook the flour. Add in the milk and stir; increase the heat to let the milk simmer. When the milk is thick enough, add the cheese, a little at a time, mixing between each addition. Do this on low heat till all the cheese melts. Then stir in the seasoning and you have a delicious homemade nachos cheese dip!
For the Slushy
Ice cold slashes with delicious warm nachos help reign in the full cinema experience. All it needs is a powerful blender and four ingredients!
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 cups of ice
- ½ teaspoon of Kool aid powder
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 cup Club soda/ sprite/ tonic water
Method:
In a blender, pour in the club soda, kool-aid, and sugar, and mix for a few seconds. Then add in the ice and pulse till the ice is crushed to form, effectively the consistency of a slushy. Pour into slushy cups or mason jars. Dress with a slice of lemon and some colourful straws!
